Gears
A gear is used to transmit power. The change in a force or a torque plays the decisive role. A gearbox usually has a drive to which a prime mover (e.g. motor) and an output to which a driven machine is connected. For example, a gearbox converts faster revolutions of an electric motor into slower revolutions with more torque.
Here you can find our various gearboxes.
Gear wheel
The word “gear” describes an important mechanical component for power transmission. It is made up of the words “tooth” and “wheel” and is frequently used in technology.
Gear ratio
The gear ratio is therefore the ratio between the (input speed) e.g. engine and the (output speed) e.g. the drive wheels of a gearbox.
This is determined by the gear diameter or the number of gears in the gearbox.
The aim is to achieve an optimum power balance.
